Farmingdale State College announces, "Applied Imagination," a groundbreaking symposium exploring the revolutionary intersection of artificial intelligence and human creativity. This event will bring together leading voices in art, design, ethics, and innovation to examine how AI is transforming creative expression and opening new possibilities across disciplines.
As a new creative renaissance emerges at the convergence of technology and artistry, this symposium offers critical insights for educators, students, and professionals navigating this shifting landscape. Professionals from across the arts and educational sectors, K-12 educators, higher education faculty, and administrators are invited to attend this FREE event organized by Farmingdale State College Visual Communications faculty and staff.

Media Arts Teachers, Northport High School
Jessica Signorello is a graphic designer-turned-educator at Northport High School, where she teaches courses in media arts, photography, and career readiness in the media field.
John Derosa is a Media Arts teacher at Northport High School with over 20 years of experience. He teaches courses in animation, digital art & design, and specializes in 3D modeling.
Jana Slavina Farmer, AIGP, CIPP/US, FIP
Attorney at Law, Wilson Elser Moskowitz Edelman & Dicker LLP
Jana Slavina Farmer is a practicing attorney licensed in both New York and California and a partner at Wilson Elser law firm. She leads the firm's Data Compliance Subpractice, focusing on global data privacy compliance and AI governance, as well as the Art Law Practice. With certifications as a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US), Fellow of Information Privacy (FIP), and Artificial Intelligence Governance Professional (AIGP), Jana brings her expertise to discussions on AI's ethical implications in creative fields.
Dr. Jennifer A. Santorello, Ed.D.
Curriculum Associate, Commack UFSD
Dr. Jennifer Santorello has over 15 years of experience in education and currently serves as the Curriculum Associate for Commack School District. Dr. Santorello oversees a variety of programs, with a special focus on new staff development. She has implemented the Learning & Development Academy to support K-12 educators, guiding them through a comprehensive four-year professional development program.
Heather Snyder Quinn, MFA
Assistant Professor of Design, DePaul University | 2024 Civics Institute Fellow
Heather Snyder Quinn is an Assistant Professor of Design at DePaul University and a 2024 Civics Institute Fellow. Her work uses design fiction to empower communities to imagine possible futures while understanding the impact of technology on human freedoms. Heather's research and projects have been recognized by The World Economic Forum, MIT Press, and Yale Law School, among others.
Kinza Kasher
Senior Design Consultant, Doblin (Deloitte Digital)
Kinza Kasher is a Senior Design Consultant at Doblin, part of Deloitte Digital, specializing in innovation and experience design. With her expertise in interaction and user experience design, Kinza will explore the impact of AI in the design industry. Her presentation will focus on how AI is transforming the design process and creating new possibilities for user interaction and innovation.
Tim Needles
Author of STEAM Power: Infusing Art Into Your STEM Curriculum | Technology Integration Specialist, Smithtown School District
Tim Needles is an artist, educator, and author who has been teaching art and media for over 25 years at Smithtown School District. He is a K-12 technology integration specialist, TEDx speaker, and an internationally recognized figure in the fields of art and education. Tim's work has been featured in prominent institutions such as NPR, the New York Times, and several museums. He is a recipient of the ISTE Making IT Happen award and the NAEA's Eastern Region Art Educator Award.
A Pivotal Moment in Creative Evolution. These experts will address topics ranging from AI-augmented creativity and ethical considerations to emerging artistic practices and the future of creative industries.
